We at Floating Islands West provide a full range of services, including design, co-design, installation, training, and not to mention we have a full service manufacturing facilty.  As a license holder of BioHaven Floating Islands we are able to custom create islands to your specifications.  Our production facility is nestled in the hills of historic Calaveras County.

We also can work with you to retrofit existing water features to help them realize their full esthetic and ecological potential.  Our approach emphasizes a dynamic synergy of nature, art, and architecture.  Our tools include aeration to eliminate stagnant zones; redirecting and regulating existing flows; adding bogs and Bio-Basins to remove excess nitrogen and other nutrients; the use of skimmers; creating shaded areas; carefully addressing feeding, fertilizing, and pest control practices; as well as the selection of plants, including many that are native to California, to attract beneficial insects and hummingbirds.

In addition to to our long experience with the standard features of water gardens, we have, as our corporate name would suggest, unparalleled expertise with BioHaven® floating islands, which can be useful in mid-sized to large ponds, and in lakes. The functions of floating islands include visual amenity; shading to reduce water temperature and algal growth; refuge for frogs, turtles, birds, and other wildlife; and removal of nitrate and ammonium from the water.
